Spirit of Truth

Spirit of Truth

As a child of the One True God, a believer in Jesus the Christ, His Holy Word, and His Holy Spirit, I am called to discern. John declares, “We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error” (1 John 4:6).  These early Apostles knew that people who liked them… liked them because the Holy Spirit in them and their spirit would be happy. When people would not receive the Gospel or hated them, they knew it was a ‘different’ spirit, the antichrist or ‘error’ spirit.

Truth aligns with God; error leads astray.

Those who know God hear His voice through His Word, through Jesus, through the Spirit. Those who reject it follow error. The Spirit in me, given through faith in Christ, guides me to truth, guards me from lies.

I am of God, united with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, rooted in His Word.

John Bunyan said, “Truth keeps the child of God; error leads the lost astray,” echoing John 10:27: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” C.S. Lewis wrote, “To hear God is to know Him; to miss Him is error,” as John 8:47 confirms: “He that is of God heareth Gods words.” Watchman Nee stated, “The Spirit of truth speaks what Jesus speaks,” reflecting John 16:13: “The Spirit of truth, will guide you into all truth.” D.L. Moody affirmed, “Truth is the anchor of the soul; error is a storm that shipwrecks,” aligning with 2 Timothy 3:16: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof.”

I test every voice by His Word. Truth brings His peace; error stirs unrest. The thief whispers lies, but the Spirit leads me to Jesus.

Dear friend, hear the spirit of truth today. Know God, follow His voice, walk in His light.

Let us pray:

Father, guide us to Your truth. Guard us from error by Your Spirit through Jesus. In His name, Amen.
