Psalm 67:6 – “God, even our own God.”
Salvation and freedom come not through our striving, but through Christ Jesus, who makes God our own. This tender phrase from the Psalms reveals a personal, covenantal bond—He is not distant, but ours, near and faithful. The Holy Spirit seals this intimacy, drawing us into His love and purpose. Watchman Nee writes, “God’s presence in us is the secret of our life” (The Normal Christian Life), urging us to cherish His nearness.
The psalmist sings of God’s blessing, contrasting the law’s fleeting shadows with the eternal light of His grace. The old covenant pointed to Him, but could not make Him ours in fullness. Through Christ’s sacrifice, the veil is torn, and God becomes our own—Father, Savior, Friend. C.S. Lewis reflects, “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains” (The Problem of Pain), revealing His personal care in every moment. John Bunyan’s pilgrim rejoiced, “My God is with me, though the way be narrow” (The Pilgrim’s Progress), finding strength in His constant presence.
The Spirit invites us to live in this intimacy, trusting our own God to guide, bless, and keep us, sharing His love with a world in need.
