Christ Our Eternal Priest

Christ Our Eternal Priest

As a child of the One True God, saved by His grace through faith in our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, I marvel at His priesthood.

Scripture declares, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek” (Hebrews 7:17), tying Jesus to a mysterious figure who reveals His eternal, superior role.

Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of God Most High, blessed Abraham in Genesis 14, his name meaning righteousness, his title peace.

Psalm 110 foresaw the Messiah in his order, and Hebrews unveils Christ as that priest—divinely appointed, not by lineage, but by an indestructible life. Unlike Levitical priests, bound by death and repeated sacrifices, Jesus offered Himself once, securing eternal salvation.

His ministry in the heavenly sanctuary surpasses the earthly tabernacle, blending kingly reign with priestly intercession.

Charles Spurgeon said, “Christ fetches blessings down by His priesthood; faith alone receives them.”

Watchman Nee added, “His eternal priesthood is our eternal peace.” C.S. Lewis wrote, “He became man to make us sons, priest to make us whole.”

John Bunyan declared, “His single sacrifice fells sin forever.” Through faith in Jesus, the Spirit draws me to this High Priest who sympathizes and saves.

Some debate Melchizedeks nature—historical king, type of Christ, or even His pre-incarnate form. Yet all agree: he points to Jesus, whose priesthood stands unmatched. I find assurance here—salvation sure, prayers heard, maturity called forth.

Dear friend, trust Christ our eternal priest today. Rest in His perfect work.

Let us pray:Father, thank You for Jesus our priest forever. Deepen our faith by Your Spirit. Keep us in His salvation. In Jesus name, Amen.
