The Character of God Part 2

The Character of God Part 2

“The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.” – Exodus 15:3

This verse is a powerful declaration of the nature and character of God.

The Lord is not only a warrior, but He is also a mighty one, who has conquered sin and death through the cross of Jesus Christ. Charles Spurgeon writes,

“The Lord is a warrior, and his name is Jehovah. He is the Lord of Hosts, the mighty One who goes forth conquering and to conquer.”

The Lord’s warrior nature is not just about physical strength, but also about spiritual strength and victory. As C.S. Lewis writes,

“As long as you are planting or watering or harvesting, you will be in danger of taking the credit to yourself. But the moment you realize that you are only a sower or a waterer, you will no longer be able to take any of the credit.”

The Lord, as a warrior, is the one who fights our battles and gives us victory over sin and death.

This verse also highlights the importance of faith in the Lord. AW Tozer writes,

“Faith is not merely the acceptance of a certain set of principles or ideas, but it is the acceptance of a person, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

As we put our faith in the Lord, we can trust in His warrior nature to protect and provide for us.

Watchman Nee writes,

“The Lord is not only the God of the weak, but also the God of the strong. He is the God of the trembling, as well as the God of the steadfast. He is the God of the feeble, as well as the God of the mighty.”

This verse reminds us that no matter our circumstances, we can trust in the Lord’s warrior nature to guide and protect us.

Exodus 15:3 declares the Lord as a warrior, and reminds us of His mighty power and victory over sin and death. As we trust in Him and put our faith in His name, we can be assured of His protection and provision in our lives.
