Running the Race of Faith with Perseverance

Running the Race of Faith with Perseverance

As believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to run the race marked out for us by our heavenly Father.

This race is not easy; it’s filled with obstacles, temptations, and trials that can hinder our progress.

But as children of God, saved by grace through faith, we have the strength and resources to overcome these challenges and persevere in our walk with Christ.

Today, let’s explore the importance of throwing off hindrances and sin, drawing inspiration from Scripture, Charles Spurgeon, C.S. Lewis, A.W. Tozer, Watchman Nee, and D.L. Moody, my favorite Christian giants.

We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses – saints who have gone before us, having fought the good fight of faith and finished their race.

These witnesses encourage us to persevere in our own race, looking to Jesus as our ultimate example of perseverance.

As Charles Spurgeon said, “The greatest thing in all religion is not what we believe about God, but what God believes about us.”

What hinders our progress in the race?

It could be anything from worldly distractions to sinful habits.

We must throw off these hindrances and the sin that so easily entangles us, as described in Hebrews 12:1.

As C.S. Lewis noted, “You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.” Let us not allow our physical bodies or worldly desires to hinder our spiritual progress.

Sin can be a powerful force that entangles us and hinders our progress in the race of faith.

As A.W. Tozer said, “The deepest need of every person is the need for a satisfying relationship with God.”

We must recognize our sinful nature and confess it to God, asking for His forgiveness and strength to overcome sin’s grip on our lives.

Perseverance is key in running the race of faith.

We must endure hardships and trials, trusting in God’s power to sustain us.

As Watchman Nee said, “To be a true witness for Christ, we must be willing to suffer for Him.”

Let us join together with our fellow believers, standing firm in our faith despite opposition and persecution.

As we run the race marked out for us, let us remember that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us.

Let us throw off hindrances and sin, drawing strength from God’s Word and the wisdom of godly men, our forefathers, matriarchs, brothers and sisters ‘in Christ’, with our loved ones in Heaven. With the saints at His feet.

You are known. Never forget that. You are not alone. Get used to it.

The shame you feel, like you will be found out …. You have been. Every-time. Go to the Cross of Redemption and the feet of our Master and Commander at once. Claim the blood and ‘feel’ the forgiveness offered freely by His loving eyes and pierced hands. He loves you still. He changes not.

You have been purchased. You are not your own little god as you suppose and act. You are undone and owned.

May we run to Jesus for forgiveness. May we run to Jesus for strength and comfort.

May we run with perseverance, looking to Jesus as our ultimate example of faithfulness.

Let us commit ourselves to running the race of faith with perseverance, trusting in God’s strength to carry us through the trials and temptations that come our way.

As D.L. Moody said, “The devil hasn’t a chance against a man who has once met God face to face.” May we meet God face to face and be transformed by His grace, running the race of faith with joy and confidence.
